The Loire by bike

This area is superbly served by offroad cycle paths that weave around  the Canal Latéral à Loire and the Loire river northwards towards Cosne-sur-Loire and the northern Loire, and la Charité-sur-Loire 25km further south.  It's an area I have yet to go further beyond.  I have been as far southward as Marseille les Aubigny, around 90 minutes away by bicycle.  But you can go even further on the paths to places such as Aprémont-sur-Loire with its château and gardens (well worth visiting) and back within a day.

Those cycles paths form part of la Loire à Vélo,  a network of cycle paths extending 900 km, including 630 km of direct route between Nevers and the Atlantic Ocean and 270 km of detours and loops along the river. La Loire à Vélo : itinéraire cyclo touristique au bord de la Loire

Cycles  Sancerrois sells, hires and repairs bicycles and can be found in the corner of the car park at place de le République where on Thursdays the weekly market is also held.

There's also a range of parts and clothing.
